Implant Retained dentures

The process begins with the placement of titanium screws into your jawbone. These implants replace your original tooth roots and provide a strong foundation for your dentures. Depending on your needs, you may require between 4 to 8 implants to secure your denture in place. The clinician performs this straightforward procedure under local anaesthetic, ensuring the patient experiences minimal discomfort.

After implant placement, a healing period of three to six months is necessary. During this time, the implants will bond with your jawbone, creating a solid foundation for your replacement teeth.

In most cases, temporary replacement teeth are fitted during the same appointment as the implants, allowing you to leave with a functional set of teeth while the healing process progresses.

Once your jaw heals, the clinician attaches an abutment (made from titanium, gold, or porcelain) to each implant. This component holds the denture securely in place. Abutments are custom-crafted for each patient, offering a variety of aesthetic options to match your natural teeth.

Finally, your permanent implant-retained denture is fitted. Your Tavistock dentist will ensure the colour of the denture matches your natural teeth for a seamless, natural look.
